Tobler Actions

G'day everyone

A mate of mine is getting into Target Rifle. He has come across an older rifle with an action made by Tobler. Has anyone else on here had anything to do with these actions or got any information on them? Looked like it had an Omark bolt head with the bolt and receiver built around it. It looked like a well made bit of kit. Any info would be appreciated

Cheers

Anthony

no info mate, but if it checks out with a smith...shoot it.
if its a similar design to an omark, try the davies trigger [recommended kit for the omark shooter.]

Tobler used to make pretty good barrels back in the day. Never knew they made actions though.

They still make barrels, give Robert Tobler a call.

I sill have a Tobler on my old Omark. It has been an excellent barrel. Bought from Dennis many years ago.
Drove thru Robertson a few years ago. Didn't even think to call in.

Any chance of a photo of the action?
I posted a thread back in 2014 asking for help to identify an action belonging to a mate. His action was also similar to an Omark. No one could help at the time.
Unfortunately the photos I posted of it were in Photobucket so have gone.

Was not aware that Tobler made an action -- might have but not aware of it.
The only action I know that used an Omark bolt was the DALE -made in SA.

About 20 years back Dennis Tobler made a small batch of experimental, stainless steel actions for 338 Lap Mag +++ The late "Big Jim" McKinley had one he used in Heavy Fly.

And I think I have the only left handed version of that monster action. I originally had the rifle chambered in 338 Lap but later had the bolt face modified to accept a 300WM. I never cracked a 100 on the old champ target but got lots of 99’s.

I don't believe there was any part of the Angle 80 that was interchangeable with an Omark.

The extractors & ejectors are interchangeable between Omark & Angel actions. No other parts are interchangeable that I am aware of.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't have a photo of the rifle as yet, but I think I my mate has bought it, so as soon as he gets it I'll try and post a few photos.

There wasn't much in the way of markings on the side of the action. Just a pretty crudely engraved serial number on the side. I think it was a later add on. The bloke at the gunshop reckons it was a Tobler Action and that only around 30 were made.
