Re: SARA Queens Series

rod, so where does that leave the 6.5 super lr with a good nut behind the butt.? bruce. Very happy with mine (the nut behind the butt being the weak link.) 140 ELDs at 3050 with 09 in necked down Palmer brass is going well. I might try for the 3200 node with 08 but then again i might be better off ...

Re: Water soluble sizing lube?

Adam try Brakeclean instead of Shellite, cans are cheap from Repco , just spray a small amount on a rag and it will clean off ALL oils and grease. its still a solvent but no where near as potent as Shellite.

Re: Carbon and the new AR 2209/4350

FYI , when using either Helmar or KG I too found that it was not being absorbed by the patch very well and would sometimes bead on the patch and not soak in. I put this down to being water based but To my surprise and by pure chance I changed to a different brand of patch and it soakes up the water ...

Re: Carbon and the new AR 2209/4350

The new 2209 to me looks like the formula they send to Hogden in America as 4350 ,I have also heard this to be true from a few sources but can not confirm it yet!! I have tried a new batch with the BTI on the front and seen no difference in fouling or speed. It is quite a bit darker but i dont think...

Re: 22 wild cat

I have had a 22-250 AI for over 20 yrs and had numerous barrels on it from 14-8 twist. It is only a hunting rig but I have taken it to the club on occasion for some fun. With an 8 twist 80gr Sierra @ 3500 was no problem and it shot pretty darn good considering it was not a Match barrel and action is...

Re: Submerging barrels in cleaning solutions

Helmar is great stuff, after cleaning l bore scope and carbons is gone. Just don't over scrub or you need a range for it to settle down. The Helmar copper remover isn't as good, needs improving. Trevor ,I will have to disagree! My testing over the last 12 months has shown me that the Copper Remover...

Re: Submerging barrels in cleaning solutions

Methanol is CORROSIVE to Stainless Steel !! Even with an oil additive I would not soak my Barrel in it especially if I'm only trying to save $10 bucks on cleaning fluid!! If you want a cheap cleaning fluid that works try Helmar, at $17 per 500ml its cheap and does a great job on my Saums and Its all...

Re: 6ppc loads

I found 2219 a good all rounder in the PPC. 65 Vmax with federal 205 primers and start at 27gn would be my pick for varmint load. How juicy is 27gr? This is in a varmint rifle so it probably wont handle what a good BR action would My guess is not that juicy!! I run 28.6 in my PPC with Berger 65BT w...

Re: Given Current Component Availability...

Thinking outside the box a little. How do the 90’s go in a 22BR?? The 22BR with 90gn pills punches above its weight. When i first started in F class I used a 22BR to win a few queens and scoped quite a lot of 60.9 and 60.10s with it. I still have a slower twist 22BR running 75gn pills and it has al...

Re: Given Current Component Availability...

Ken Melgard has a new 184gn 7mm bullet so it might be time to give our local supplier a run!! I would give them a go just so didn't have to support the US team. Are they ready yet?? I'll contact Ken direct. Geoff They are on his updated price list, I have emailed Ken waiting for a reply. In a Saum ...
