Re: 2021 F Class Nationals

I may have also suggested they move the date (not the venue) by a year, if they did this now it would forever solve the issue of this event clashing with the FCWC. Be good if this happens The state teams is a completely different beast to the 2 coach world teams so really no benefit to those travel...

Re: ACT Authorized Instructor - Canberra Queens

Josh,
I’m assuming you have a shooters license.
Maybe you could ask if you could supervise her shooting?

Re: Brass prep

I hate case prep and reloading . I would love a bullet Fairy!! Every time I opened up my ammo box , it magically refills with perfectly weight sorted , primer chamfered, neck turned , annealed , powder to the kernal , 180 hybrid to the 3 thou , harmonically tuned 60.10 ammo ! I’m with you...

Re: Brass prep

Anneal before resizing I used to but it meant 2 passes through the die. I realised that before I had the AMP I woulld only anneal every 3 firings and still had great results. So I changed from popping primers, cleaning, annealing and neck sizing to popping primers and neck sizing in one, then clean...

Re: 6 br additional calibre

F Open has nearly become FS when you look at it. Most are shooting the 7mm 180gn Berger 2800-2950 fps With a few dabbling in 180gn + Not many wild variations as there may have been in the beginning. I’ve heard tales of 22-250 AI and 6.5x57 improved etc Probably FS is best left alone. The narrow rest...

Re: Brass prep

Buy a lathe! Sorry the devil made me say it, I have a twisted thing where I want to do nothing but end up doing everything just in case, true pockets flash holes chamfer turn etc etc #-o In all honesty though I’d not turn without a lathe, my favourite combination is lee collet ND with For...

Brass prep

Hi All, Might be a good chance to lay out the procedure for any novice brass preppers. Buy quality brass. Weight sort brass. Chamber neck minus 3 thou minus bullet dia - left over divided by 2 - that’s the target neck wall thickness. I size brass then use an internal neck mandrel to expand for the n...

Re: To turn or not to turn

Thanks for all the replies.
Only thing to do is try it and see I suppose.
I’m thinking of trying the Lee collet die regardless if I turn the necks or not.

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

What projectiles are you planning to use?
180s have been fine in the last 4-5 9 twist barrels for me

I think it was Lexus that had the slogan
“The relentless pursuit of perfection”
Seems you’re operating under the same ideology 8)
It’s a real pest when you get a great idea that won’t go away :!:
Have fun with the next gun.
Is it the perfect caliber or set up you seek?

Re: To turn or not to turn

I do turn brass now and I’m very happy with the precision
When I neck turn it is in one pass - some take a couple of passes
2016 was the last saum neck turning for me
They do last a long time

Re: To turn or not to turn

Depends on who makes it. Lapua I don't turn it. IMO if it measures consistent then you are turning it to make it thinner for some reason. If you make it thinner how much neck clearance do you have? If you are increasing neck clearance by making it thinner you might need to anneal so you don't lose ...
