Berger Projectiles Availability
Hi Guys,
I know we are all aware of the shortage of 308 Win 155.5gn Bergers and other calibres right know, but does anyone know if this is going going to be a long term thing or a one off issue?

Berger is still in business, you can import Berger 155 via Brownells (at vast expense) and this is not the first time Australia has experienced shortages of imported firearms stuff, for example in 2013: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-06-08/ ... ig/4742048
Stuart at BRT is probably the best person to ask.
Maybe now would be a good time to try local? http://copperheadbullets.com/prices.pdf

Hi all,
I’m not one to comment often on the site.
But I echo tachyon comments with regards to copperhead projectiles. Shoot extremely well, competitive on price and from what I understand available.
Is there any reason copperhead are not an approved projectile for FS??
Steery

HBC projectiles were good when I used them.
They had their ups and downs, but ultimately, the more people that support them, the more cash flow and more innovation they will be able to do.
Agree on the support local thing…..

Yes, they are going to be approved, the SSR will be updated in July or January next year to approve their use, have had verbal confirmation from the NRAA.

Ken , I surely hope this eventuates we need a locally made supply and supported . It’s the only way forward . If the product is as good as the imported option then why not ?
When my son and I started in f standard we used the the old short Dyer’s , then the BJD and they all shot great .
I’ll support Aussie anytime if the quality is comparable

Re: Berger Projectiles Availability
Good feedback guys. I have tried HBCs and Sierras but didn’t get great results. I’d like to buy Australian so if Copperheads are approved I might try them. I am a FTR shooter and use Berger 200.2X’s which work really well, so it would be great if Copperhead made a broader range of projectiles to trial.
Until I can find a reliable accurate Australian made product, I am sticking to Berger as I feel that they are generally the best projectiles on the market.
I might try importing them through Brownwells or other sources…

Yes I've got lot's of them and they perform very well, excellent actually, side by side they look like a Sierra 2155 so giving up a little wind to hbc/berger, although I haven't shot enough of them yet for it to make a difference to me, not happy to hear about Optimus moving, the website doesn't mention anything?

Re: Berger Projectiles Availability
The shortage of 155.5 Bergers could be the huge influx of TR shooters for example about 100 TR shooters at the nationals and about 80 scope shooters with most of the TR shooters shooting 155.5 projectiles.

Hi Loneranger
Yes, l will hopefully have my “new” VLD 30 caliber dies sometime in July, have been waiting on them since late last year.
Just need the dies, and will start to make and test some heavier 30 caliber VLD bullets, haven’t settled on a weight yet, just need to see, but something between 200-210 grain bullets & 185-190 grain when l can get some jackets for that weight.
I will update my website once I have some ready for the FTR guys to shoot
Cheers
