For interest, maybe some of you old blokes could tell us young blokes , how big the 5 Bull rings were some 50 years ago ?? with the gear we have today, you could shoot off the hip, Chop

Again Great discussion and I'm sure the rule makers are watching our post! I'll put my colours out and say I'm with the ready and shoot side and like I said before , I think that is part of the skill.
However we have to find middle ground and a solution that is fair to everyone. There are people I believe that have the money , resources and they can shoot very fast , to abuse unlimited sighters and have an unfair advantage. This sport is already quite money orientated and unlimited sighters would make it even more so.

Razor came up with a good Idea with a few sight in targets at the end of the range . But I think it would be difficult time wise and tie up RO's time trying to run it . But no learnt conditions which is what I really like!

So what is a happy medium where everyone is happy or well as close as can be ?

I think non convertable sighters of 3 max ( which is in between Denis's suggestion and Alan's 4-5 sighters) , then the 10 plus 2 . All shot in the 13 mins (300 yds ) for the first range of the day would be ok!
Also this rule done this way could done at any opm , quite easily and a minimum of fuss . It gives everyone a fair go in the learnt conditions stakes. But no one could abuse it ! And it still gives that skill in barrel management.

I think it's a good compromise !???

That might be my only option if I cannot get my bloody shoulder fixed. :D

Shot three times in twelve months, last time in March and I am seriously withdrawn. :(

See the surgeon again on Thursday with no promises and nothing on the radar.

Life can be a real bitch.

New rule;
You can have up to 4 sighters.
You have to declare how many before you shoot/nominate.
The target is non reactive until you are ready to shoot your counting two sighters. This can be arranged by leaving ET turned off until counting shots begin and with manual targets they get pulled and patched out ONLY when shooter is again ready to stop farting around.
The ones that know how to clean and maintain our barrels will not require this but, it will cater for the rest who do!

Hey Chop, think I can remember 50 years ago.
5 ring sizes were--
300 Yds --7.5" Approx 190 mm ( now 130 mm )
500 and 600 -- 15" = 381 mm ( now 260 at 500, 290 at 600 )
700 --24" -- approx 610 mm ---( now 320 mm)
800 and 900 --30" -- 762 mm ( now 510 at 800, 900 and 1000 )

Barrel management should be as important as learning to reload & read the wind.

In my uneducated opinion. :D

I agree 100%.

So I manage 3 of my barrels by firing a few foulers through them.
