Re: VRA lead up and Queens.
Things are looking good at Bendigo, already a heap of caravans and it's only Sunday. Weather forecast is sunny, low 20 and no rain or wind for the Queens. Pavillion is lined out and a new awning and entertainment area is completed.Still time to roll up and have a great time and enjoy the company.

Trevor,
Great to see the VRA queens allowing blow off shots this year ....... BUT
What a load of bullshit, too charge shooters to fire a couple of fouling shots into the mound before a days shooting...
Dont nominations cover this added expense????
We dont want people pulling over, on some back road fouling their rifles...
Just a thought,
Alan

The charge for blow off shots must be exorbitant for people to risk loosing their shooters licence and firearms

The SA Queen’s had blow off shots each morning for a gold coin donation, which I thought was great as an RO had to be there.

Re: VRA lead up and Queens.
well done to all winners!
The Cessnock boys did well
It was a great event from what I hear and a favourite for Rod Davies, winning it for the last 2 years in a row will do that.
I hope to be there next year even if it’s just to do a bit of reporting.
Just wondering if the 7 saum is gaining any momentum as the F open caliber of choice?
What were people shooting?

There were a few using SAUMs at the longs, but also a few 284s doing well. In the short/mid ranges, there were the usual 6 Dashers doing well and some other usual 6 and 6.5s.

Looking from afar the standard was fantastic. Sound results from rising stars in FO that the experience will cement ideas for further improvement. Outstanding performance Rod. Lots of positives for everyone and I am sure a Queens series to remember.

Considering conditions were a little gentle for Bendigo but still challenging there were some brilliant scores recorded.

Re: VRA lead up and Queens.
With both Sophie and myself shooting it was hard to get a proper look at who else was on the mounds but it felt like the juniors who we are striving to promote and raise money for were very much under represented. All the more so as the comp was during Easter holidays. The juniors who were there shot exceptionally well and I believe almost all made an appearance on the podium. The low attendance was disappointing to see especially with free entry under 21s. Maybe we should charge a nominal entry and have a under 21s comp with prizes and maybe allow them to be coached if the concept of a Queens is overly daunting?
That said as 1st time attendees we were made to feel extremely welcome, the organisation of the whole event was exceptional and we will definitely be back next year. I would thoroughly encourage anyone else to give it a crack and trust me you won't be the only ones making rooky mistakes and all we recieved was help and encouragement.
