F std. How much powder to suit...

#1 Postby Foxy » Mon Nov 06, 2006 8:26 pm

.308
Lapua Brass
CCI Primers
155g Scenars
2208 powder
Fired from a Barnard S model action
Through a 30" Hart barrel with a 1-13 twist
Please advise how many grains would be a good starting point?
My range is from 300-800metres.

Read rule book.Only projectiles as supplied by NRAA to be used.B J D or Sierra 155's.For powder load, read current ADI manual. Some peoples loads on this site are scarey.
Be a bit conservative to start.

Foxy,
If you are using new Lapua Brass and Sierra pills, load your 1st load with 45 grns of 2208 into the lands, 2nd time 10thou jump with 45.5 of 2208.
When tunning your loads some people load up to 46.5 but not me.
A very experienced gunsmith said that that way will make your brass last many more loads, something about metal memory.
Cheers.
