elivation drama
Hi.
Just converted my omark to f standed class.
I have a 20moa rail and vortex comp scope and 30mm 1" night force rings
Took it out to the range on the weekend and zeroed to 300 yards.
The problem is i am sitting on 45moa elivation and i only have about 15moa left before it maxed out which is not good because i shoot out to 1000yrd.
Is there any way i can fix this problem and get more elivation.

Is your rail mounted the right way?
I know that it sounds stupid to ask but there has been more than one rail fitted A' about face.
The line of the barrel and the rail should be converging. In other words the thickest end of the rail is closest to the butt.

Yes. The rail slope orientation seems counter-intuitive at first. The thinner part of the ramp should be at the front. Worth checking.

Thank you for the reply. The rail is fitted correctly. The thinner part of the rail is at the front.
I just asked the person who got it. He said it is was omark 20moa rail.

Re: elivation drama
Any chance that you're confusing up adjustment with down adjustment on your scope. Probably not, but.

I took it out to the range and zeroed to 300 then wound it up 9moa to shoot 600yrd(club day shoot). Then when i got home a club member wang me up and said that he noticed how much elivation on the scope was and i shoud try and wind up the scope to see how much more elivation i had left in the scope, so it only up 6moa than maxed out.

Does the action have an adaptor fitted ?? Sometimes the adaptor is slightly bigger in diameter than the action which can take away the taper in the base.
Can you post a photo ??

Re: elivation drama
Check the scope by rotating it while resting in a fixed rifle or in V blocks. When set to zero, the X hairs should not be too far from the same point as it rotates.
There has to be something wrong. Could the mounts not be a matched pair ?
Don't forget the possibility of adjustable Burris Signature rings to make corrections but they are really only meant to correct milder errors. Still an excellent product, however.

Hi Peter.
Just measered the rings they are the same hieght and they have been lapped.
I have just set it up on my rest and rear bag and rotated up and back to zero it seems to be ok.

Re: elivation drama
Is it possible that the front of the rail is bottoming on the barrel and bending back up somewhat ?

Re: elivation drama
Looking at the first photo, I am wondering whether by moving the scope further back on the picatinny rail, will give you more adjustment ? The rail is higher at the rear and should therefore provide additional MOA benefit. You could also replace the rail with a 25 or 30 MOA rail if moving it back is still not sufficient to your requirements.

Re: elivation drama
Hi thank you all for comments. I think i have found the problrm.
I put a straight edge over the rail and it has a bow in it. Dips down .025" where it screw down at the front of the action which makes the front kick up. So i am practicality running 0moa rail.
Would this be caused by me not not fitting a proper omark rail correctly or can i get it machined.
