RECENT SPAM ATTACK

#1 Postby AlanF » Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:54 pm

As many have discovered, our website was attacked by spam late last week. I discovered it on my second day at Canberra, and apart from locking the forums from further posts, decided not to spoil my shooting by trying to fix it from there on a scrounged internet connection.

I hope it has not caused serious damage to member's PC. I've heard of some virus problems from one or two who clicked on the links in the spam posts, and of some who have received private messages from the spammers. My apologies to anyone offended or otherwise adversely affected.

I believe it is now secure again, for the moment at least.

Don't worry. Your rating is OK, not almighty.

There's been a fair bit of east European action on one of the other boards I frequent.

Fair enough. The main thing is what NOT to do:

DON'T CLICK ON THE LINKS. :!: :!: :!: Most will be harmless, but some will not - they could do anything from installing spyware on your PC, to corrupting files to attempting to rip you off financially.

As I stated to you before, I have a suggestion for when it happens next time so that they are read by the right people.
Any spams advertising erectile dysfunction , move to full bore section
Any spams advertising penile enlargement, send to F standard forum
The spams from Nigerian bankers offering to give you $1000000 for nothing, send to 6.5x284 shooters. They can do with the money with all the barrels they wear out
Any links to rich nubile 21 year olds, who want casual meaningless flings with poor out of shape middleaged men, send to F open section.

With that in consideration, I'd rather be Fullbore then F Std. LOL.
