Hello from Bendigo.

Not quite as exotic as South Africa but at least we have web access!

Can anyone coming to the leadup tomorrow morning help me out with something I left behind please ? A USB printer cable - just need to borrow one for the duration of the event - I have several at home so don't want to buy another one.

Hello again. Day 1 of the leadup is done and dusted. Conditions were cool and pleasant, light winds tricky at times. Its a tie on points for the lead. David Stewart deserved his daily agg with some very high Super V counts.

Calibres :

David Stewart 6.5 Rogue, Terry Sheedy 6BRX, Gary Hunt 6 Dasher, Robert Bant 6 Dasher, Adam Davies 6.5x47, Rod Mahon 308, Alan Fraser 7 Shehane.

Results are HERE

Back tomorrow night after the Syme.

Evening all.

Well done to Terry Sheedy in the Syme =D> . He shot consistently well to win comfortably from Adam Davies. FCWC coach David Stewart would have been right up there but for a mysterious problem with vertical during the 900 and 1000. Alistair Kevan joined us today to practice for the Queens. I've seen Bob Eager, Paul Deehan and Richie Neil today. It wouldn't surprise to see a dozen or more shooting F-Open in the morning. No rain and about 20 deg forecast for the next 3 days so it all looks good for an enjoyable event.

Back tomorrow night.

Go the 6mm's and go Terry! Must be nice calm conditions for the 6's to be outshooting the larger cals or Terry is just on fire. Either that or a few people have cunning plans for the queens!

Best of luck to all!

Hello again,

Day one is over and some will be glad. The wind was quite wild by Bendigo standards, changing direction and speed, with occasional gusts lifting the flag tips right up. However there were quiet patches for the lucky, and scores were a bit up and down. We have 14 in F-Open, which I'm pleased to say is a record number for the Vic Queens - great to see. After day one most of the field is compressed into a span of only 4 points from the lead, so with 5 long ranges to come, its still there for the taking.

Some more calibres : Paul Deehan 7 RSAUM, Richie Neil 300 WSM, Grant Groves 6 Dasher, Mike Waites 6BRX & 7 RSAUM, Rob Eager 6 Dasher, Wayne McFarlane 284 Shehane, Alistair Kevan 6BR & 284 Win.

Today's results are HERE

BTW so we don't get too big-headed in F-Open, Raeburn Trindall who won every range in F-Std, had a higher daily agg than any of us  . However I'd expect our higher performing calibres to prevail at the longs.

More tomorrow night.

Congrats to Alan, Richie and Paul. What distances were shot?

Alan, any chance you can both calibre and bullet used? So we can see what bullet weights are winning?

Looks like a close tussle going into the last day in F-Open.

Be interesting to see if Richard Neil with his lower X count can maintain his lead. But being two points clear is a handy place to be!

Good luck to all those in the mix.

Good evening again,

Yes Richie is travelling very well with his WSM. But there's three 7mms (2 RSAUMS and a Shehane) within 3 points, and don't write off Grant Groves with his 6 Dasher - conditions are forecast to be quite gentle tomorrow morning. Today was nothing like yesterday's windy condtions - it was back to normal Bendigo. With the wind coming from the right it favoured the right hand side of the mounds.

Shaun - I'll see what I can do about projectile info. Some don't like to reveal that information - just playing mind games I guess.

Barring holdups, I'd expect the Queens to be over by about 1pm tomorrow, so I'll try to get a quick "NEWSFLASH" out shortly thereafter.

Back tomorrow.

Hello again,

Its all over for another year, a well run Queens. Weather was cool to mild today, light wind started from about the 1 o'clock direction, and strengthened a little during morning as it swung more towards 10 o'clock.

I fired the first shot of the day and got in a fast 60 along the sheltered right hand side. Conditions worsened gradually and none of the other contenders did better than 57. Then by the time I shot the 1000 (near last) the wind had swung and I now had the sheltered left hand side! So the luck of draw was well and truly on my side.

http://www.vra.asn.au/results/2013/VRQUAGG.pdf

Here's the best I can manage with projectiles : 30 cal R Neil 230 Hybrid; 7mm A Fraser 180 Hybrid, W McFarlane 180 Hybrid, M Waites 180 Hybrid, R Mahon 180 VLD, R Bant 175 SMK; 6.5mm G Hunt 140 VLD, D Stewart 142 SMK; 6mm T Sheedy 107 SMK, G Groves 105 Hyb. No-one held back - I just didn't get to everyone.

It was great to see such good numbers in F-Open, helped by a few new names, and some visitors from distant States.

That's about all from me - time to go for a feed in town.
