Rosedale OPM

#1 Postby Peter Marum » Sun Mar 18, 2007 5:31 pm

A fair crew from Fitzroy/Caulfield is going to Rosedale to try to master the conditions down there. It should be a good weekend; ( who knows with the weather).

Looking forward to seeing you Peter. The range is in good condition (v. short green grass), and looks like there'll be a good turn-out, particularly with the vets OPM being on the Friday. I'm also optimistic about a good F-Std field, including a few from afar. This will probably be our last year of a single F-Std grade.

F-Open shooters are welcome too. I know of 5 who've said they can make it, but the more the merrier. Trophy values are equal for all classes/grades.

And we've decided to make a real effort to turn on easy conditions this year (particularly when the locals are shooting) :D :D

The Rosedale OPM was a great success numbers wise, with about 40 shooters on both days. In F-Class there were 11 Standard and at least 6 Open per day. On the Saturday, we didn't get started till after 11 because of rain, and had to stop again for showers. Wind was quite strong at times, but was readable (the A grade daily winner had all possibles). The next day was quite different, fine with lighter winds coming from behind the targets.
As expected, we did manage to provide favourable conditions for the locals, and I had a win in Open, but an outsider managed to foil our strategy in F-Std. Congratulations to Peter Marum on his win in standard, particularly the three 59s on the Sunday. Other notable F-Class scores were 99s to Paul McCarthy at 700 and Wayne MacFarlane at 600, and a 60 to Jenny Davies at 500.

Our first visit to Rosedale. Won't be our last.
Many thanks to all you good people at Rosedale for a first class weekend, we enjoyed it no end.
All those who did not or could not for whatever reason make it to Rosedale, make a special effort next year, you won't be sorry.
Barry
