Alternative 284 cases

It seems everyone has been using lapua 6.5x284 necked up and a more than a few people have had problems with cases recently. Has anyone tried the nosler or hornady 6.5x284 brass sorted, prepped and necked up? I didnt like nosler when I was using it in a 22-250- I had alot of split necks on the first firing but this was a factory chambered varmint rifle. Anyway thought I would ask the question.

I'd be asking the question about Norma brass as they have a tendancy to produce thicker heavier brass in most calibres? It's a pitty RWS don't do a 6.5-284.

Highland (or PRVI) make 7.5x55 brass which is fractionally smaller than 30-284. It could work if it was necked down to 7mm, fireformed and then uniform necks, primer pockets, weigh into batches, etc. All the new unfired brass measures 0.496" at the case head. I've had good results in my Swiss K31 using PRVI brass although I'm not running at max pressure. One major difference from .284W brass is the rim of the 7.5x55 isn't rebated so it would need to be trimmed to fit the .308 bolt face... food for thought and perhaps worth a try as an alternative .284 brass?
