Hi. Just after opinions on distance.
Just had a couple of 223 barrels done with 1 in 7 twist . I have
a heap of 80 gr eld,s & vld,s . Ogive for the 80s is 2.070 so can
Seat out .
Barrels are h/v 26 inch long .
My question is What distance out would be safe to shoot ,
Could I shoot 800 yards & maybe more without keyholes. Taking
Wind & mirage into account . How far out can a 223 with this combo be pushed.
Thanks.

I have shot with two rifles having 26” barrels and 1 in 8 twist to 900 yards,so you should have no trouble with the 1/7 twist.

Re: 223 , 1in7 twist
My first .223 barrel was 26in. I shot it out to 1200 yards at Ungarie. Wind reading was critical.
Currently it has a 30in barrel 1:7. I run CCI 450 mag primers, 25 grains of 2208 and 80.5 Bergers. It hums.
I suggest with powder you start at 23 grains 2208 and work up. If using 2206 start at 22 grains.
Have fun,
Cheers
