223 Barrel Length

#1 Postby Seddo » Thu Aug 05, 2010 4:47 pm

Hi guys,

I am looking at fitting a 1-8 223 barrel to an old winchester action i have. It wont be a serious target rifle just something i can shoot and have some fun with from time to time.

What barrel length do i need to get a 75/80gr A Max into the 2900-3000fps range? I dont want a 31" barrel if i can help it.

Sorry guys, it was very bad timing on the post. I got a reply email from action clear with a great deal on a 28" barrel and i couldnt say no.

So a 28" barrel it is.

Cookie,

I joined moe the week after the agm. So far i have only managed 3 shoots, its funny how as soon as i start wanting to shoot on saturday's the wife starts getting rostered on saturdays.

I have been shooting pistols for the last 15 years and recently the motivation to compete has gone so its just social now. I have decided to split my shooting time between pistols and rifles. I looked at joining rosedale as i want to shoot f open (260 rem) but i take the daughter to swimming lessons on saturday mornings so it is impossible to get there to shoot in time. I will get down to rosedale on one fo the school holidays. Some of the recent posts mentioned the targets are now the same for TR and FO so it looks like i will be able to shoot FO at moe now, even if i am the only one.

Scott Seddon.

Cookie,

I got a pac-nor, Chris said it was the same one Rod fitted to his wifes gun that set the range record recently so its not part of the new shipment.

I have been shooting TR with my LTR and 10x Leupold so you wont miss me on the mount, with the camo paint job and all. I picked up a weaver for my omark so hopefully after some load development it wont be too far from being used.
