removing stock tape

OK, I know exactly what stock tape is now, I know it as PTFE tape, in fact I need to order some very shortly. I am in the UK and lurk on a few forums around the world, a mix of F Class, Long Range, Blackpowder and Wildcat's and yes your name seems familiar as well but it could be from reading your posts on this site

most glues / adhesives are an acetone base hence the snotballs and sitcky.

Just had the same problem as Bruce, how to remove the adhesive residue?
Eucalyptus oil worked really well and removed the adhesive but left the varnish (Tru-Oil) intact.
X 2 for Eucalyptus oil as the best way to go!
