Redding instant indicator

#1 Postby bsouthernau » Wed Jun 04, 2014 7:42 pm

Over the last few years I've become accustomed to checking the consistency of the base-to-ogive measurement of my .308s using one of these and I'd like to continue the practice when I start loading 30-'06AI. I presume the improved case won't go into a standard 30-'06 indicator body so I'm faced with the decision between getting one of these and having it reamed to accommodate the improved case or buying a stock item for a larger case. It looks like .300Win Mag might do the job but I cant be totally sure.

Any advice gratefully received.

Barry,

I would ask Redding (via their Techline) which cal would be closest. My suspicion is that the 280 AI would be closest, but may require reaming out the neck area. I had my 6.5-284 reamed out for the 7 Shehane locally.
