Hi all
I am new to the forums and looking at getting into f-class, But just not sure which way to go.
I have 4 rifles that i could use, but just wanted some of your thoughts.
My first outfit is a Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless Lefthanded in 223 fitted with a nightforce 5.5-22 x 50 NXS.
My second outfit is a custom Model 700 SPS Varmint Left Hand in 243 with McMillan A4 stock fitted with a nightforce 5.5-22 x 50 NXS.
My third outfit is a HS Precision HTR Left Hand in 308 with US Optics SN-3 SSDS 3.5-17x scope(This 1 has BDC for 175gn projectiles).
My forth outfit is a custom Model 700 BDL Left Hand in 300win mag with McMillan A4 stock fitted with a nightforce 5.5-22 x 50 NXS.
Both my 243 and 300win mag 20moa rails fitted.and all rifles can shoot .5moa when i put my mind to it.
What would my best option be for shooting f-class

If I had that list in my safe i'd be using all of them.
Your answer will probably come from the people you'll be shooting with. If you want to compete with them then you'll choose either the 223 or the 308 if they're shooting F-Std or one or all of the others if they're shooting F-Open. Or you'll just do your own thing.
Take the 223 or the 308 out first and see how you go. Once you start shooting you'll quickly find your own way.

Welcome to F Class
I agree with M12, take out your 223 and 308.
I have used a Tikka Tactical in 223 for a few years and it has shot quite a few posibles out to 500 meters. BUT I had the throat altered to suit the long 80gn Sierra Match Kings. (this barrel is a 1:8 ) Just check on your barrel, it will have the twist rate stamped on it. You could work up a safe load for 80gn projectiles without altering your throat and use your 223 for the shorter ranges, then swap to the 308 for the longs.
As for the 308, you could buy the Palma Match ammo for starters, because the 175gn projectile load you have, you will be competing in F Class Open, and that is "throwing youself in the deep end" so to speak.
F Class Standard is just that, a level playing field and I'm sure other F Class shooters will agree, you can learn a lot then work out what path you want to take.
Cheers and happy shooting.

Thanks for the advice.
The tikka 223 is a 1in8 twist as i have been using as i have been using Berger 22 cal 80 Grain Match Target VLD and found them great in this setup, The only thing i am looking at is fitting a 20moa rail on it. This is so i can keep my scope adjustment close to centred with the 100moa of adjustment that the nightforce scope has. I used to shoot fullbore about 20 years ago but then got away from it for a while and concentrated on long range hunting and this is while i have the rifles that i listed above. Once again i would like to thank you for your input.

If you check out Brisbane Rifle club any Saturday afternoon, you'll find a fair assembly of F classers there, both open or standard. Maybe no Tikkas, but I know of at least one Howa, a RPA & a Savage in .223. 308s are like fleas - every dog has 'em. Barry Lewis is the grandfather (make that sage) of the Brisbane F class mob but they're all a helpful bunch. Barry's a bit of a gun plumber too & might be able to help you out with your rail.
Shooting starts at 1:00, but wander in off Old Cleveland Road around midday, follow the road around & ask Greg at the QRA office how to find them.

Scope Rail
Nightforce have a "flat base" 20moa rail, but with no mounting holes. That is what I had fitted to my Tikka.
I am in the Murray Bridge RC, and 3 of the F Class members shoot Tikka Varmint models in 308. Dave K. just won the F Class Standard Club Championship using his Tikka Super Varmint in 308. He tied with JCINSA, had a shoot off at 800 meters, to win by 1 point.
He uses the BJD , 155gn projectile.
Cheers
