It was announced at the 2019 Teams Dinner that it would be in Townsville..... I was quite inebriated, but do remember this.
Should be a good venue to be honest!!

I may have also suggested they move the date (not the venue) by a year, if they did this now it would forever solve the issue of this event clashing with the FCWC.

Be good if this happens
The state teams is a completely different beast to the 2 coach world teams so really no benefit to those travelling overseas as a practice.

It really shouldn't be a different beast though should it? It should be a stepping stone to the national team. I feel like we need to bring it closer inline with the national team structure.

Matty, some states struggle to field a 5 man team let alone a full 8 man plus coaches team. WA certainly couldn't.

I can appreciate that fully. Numbers were an issue for us this year, but there still shouldn't be such a huge gap. There doesn't seem to be a lot of emphasis placed on "getting it right" at state team events. Bit lackadaisical. Just my opinion. I still like being involved with them, just would like to see them evolve.

You are correct that the state teams can be a stepping stone to the national team, it was for me, my point was it’s not comparable to the world team in practice.
If the date was moved to fall the year after the worlds might help with the next lot of world team prospects.

But it should be Tim. It should groom shooters for what is to come should they want to take the next step.

Grooming is OK , but in 2017 I saw a lot of stressed people trying to do both within 3 months of each other with all the training wearing out barrels, attending 2 lots of training , personally it’s the reason we pulled out the “worlds” couldn’t make trips away every weekend , huge component wear & logistical nightmare with everything, but if you got time and money it’s not a problem

At the risk of digging a little deeper.
As a shooter you can demonstrate your suitability for the national team at state level.
If you can bring a super accurate rifle with no weird habits, place shots where asked and get along well with others you’re on the right path.
The difference I’m thinking of is in the complexity of 2 coaches, a master coach and 8 shooters all working together in unison.
This is where the beast is different.

IMO it does, if your state team is serious and follows the recipe needed to succeed you are following the same steps needed to perform at world level.
How your state develops it’s team to the Nationals is not an NRAA issue.
The world championships is a unique beast, and then again it isn’t.
95% of the aspects of the FCWC apply directly to the national teams and they can be used as training, as much as people (mainly coaches) need experience the the multi coach system, everything is transferable, and the coaches need to be able to train in a single coach system as well.
I think it’s fine in the format it is, it is up to each team/state to perform & train how they wish.

Apart from more shooters and coaches, explain the other differences?
