How many places can you shoot F Class in Australia

There is a post in 6mmbr.com asking for range locations overseas. Does anyone out there know how many NRAA ranges there are in OZ? I dont think we will be listing them all, but an idea on numbers would be interesting.

I spoke to the nraa insurance guy (also the CRO) last week and he said abotu 200 ranges on the policy.

Going by state to state nubers, 200 sounds like a reasonable number. It seems we dont have it too bad here by the look of it.

Rod keeping the title of your thread in mind though, the number of ranges in Australia does not naturally equate to the number you can shoot F Class at. Technically you can of course but there will be some still that will not have F Class, the world moves slowly in some places...

The 200 ranges i was refering to were all affiliated with the NRAA so they must be capable of shooting f class and have members.

I know Seddo which is why I said that you technically can shoot F Class at these clubs, I was simply saying that not all clubs have embraced F Class. There have been some that would rather not have new members over allowing F Class within their club but this is changing. There is always a transition period with anything 'new' or different. The title of the thread is "How many places can you shoot F Class in Australia", it would not be unreasonable to interpret this as "how many places would you be welcome to shoot F Class" if you walked onto their range. A negative perspective I suppose and I sincerely hope to see a 100% welcome situation, we are getting there, but sadly this is not yet a perfect world. I guess my whole point is that some clubs are far more F Class oriented.

Maybe some clubs are not far more F Class oriented but are shooting oriented.

I think that it's kind of humorous that clubs are branded as baddies one way or another.

The way I see it is that if a club hasn't any F class converts or new shooters by now, then F class isn't an attractive option in that region. On the other side of the coin, clubs without a contingent of F class members aren't going to be able to do a lot towards mentoring a new F class shooter. What it comes down to is that whatever discipline you are starting out in, scoped or iron sights, it will be heavy going unless you can get quality mentoring locally.

As far as shooting preferences go, I have mine, he has his & both have equal validity no matter how forcefully we argue the superiority of our view - and yes, sometimes one of us might promote or opinions more thoroughly & extensively than generally desirable.
