Hi,
Have been trolling the net looking for info on Swing Actions - there is not a great deal to be found.
Are they still a worthwhile investment for building an F Std rifle on or are the parts & stocks now a little harder to come by. Alloy bedding blocks etc ? I believe that the Swing actions may have been out of production for some time.
Thanks...............

Brian,
Swings have been out of production for a l-o-n-g time, although you'll find some spares through James Corbett. They were superceded by the Paramount, then the RPA 2000, the RPA quadlock etc.
I wouldn't recommend one as a F class action, for the single reason that they take so much effort to unload (cock the spring) that you can guarantee that you will have displaced your bipod ot rolled the bugger on your front rest every shot. In this regard, they are the first & arguably the worst of the 4 lug actions.
I use a Millennium which is more or less the final refinement of the Swing for F standard & I can just about manage it now. I'm using it because it was my fullbore rifle before I changed discipline, but if I was building from scratch for F class, I would be looking for a fast Remington 700 single shot clone for preference from the viewpoint of loading speed & smoothness.
You can find a potted history of the Swing written by one of the cofounders here:
