OK, it's deep s**t time now. Nioa has my 200 Lot P00620601 to pass on to Lapua for assessment. Maybe down track I'll get a surprise, but not in the near future because Nioa don't have any brass themselves. I have a barrel, dies, projectiles & powder but Norfolk & cases to expand up and neck turn to give to my gunsmith as a test round. No gun shop in Australia I have contacted is owning up to having any 6.5/284 or .284 brass & Qld Gun Exchange told me that as of today, no wholesaler in Oz is carrying any either. Place your order & wait your turn is the mantra - or buy Lot P00620601 from the Q store.
Has anybody 2 or 3 unfired cases of any manufacture, either calibre that I could use to get the project going? I'm not in a great hurry to finalise all this, just to get it started. In a fortnight my favourite plastic surgeon is going to tighten up my left arm bat wing & put the residue on the back of my left hand, so I'm going into a short seclusion again.
Down track, I'm expecting to acquire some preloved brass to actually run the bugger with, but right now, the project is stalled - and me with a stack of Wilson stainless & Berger stuff laughing at me on the loading bench.
Cheers (cheers, he says. He must be mad) John

John,
I can give you 4-5 new Norma 6.5 x 284 cases if it would help.
Sorry to hear about your "next" operation and the break from shooting that will follow.
Tony
PS : Do you want a loan of a 270 expander die , to go up in steps ?

Extreme accuracy and precision shooting at long range can be a very addictive pastime.

Thanks, Tony. The brass could come in handy. I'll phone you.
Don't need the expander. I have a .22 to 7mm as well as a 6mm to ,30, but that Lapua went at the shoulder whichever way I expanded. I did sacrifice a new 6br case & it popped up to .30 without any fuss or distortion. Gotta be that particular run of Lapua, I'm figuring.
Cheers
PS: The skin graft should only keep me off the streets for a fortnight or so.

I finally said the hell with it & picked up 50 Nosler cases from Rebel. I expanded two up straight to .30 calibre without issue, apart from that part of the deal being worth $3.96.
Thanks for all the offers for help, but I look like I'm on my way after adopting the gold standard.
I wonder if they'll hold a load.........
