Well I finally received my Gehmann 0.0 diopta from Grahman Forbes they are not cheap. But the $$$ spent on shooting Glasses were wasted as I got parralex error and shot bigger groups. Only two of the 0+0s are in Australia at the moment and I was lucky to get one ,,,here's a link to what they are. http://www.gehmann.com/english/products.php?id=1639
I bought the Gehmann +1.5 variable with the astigmatism lens but cannot use it, see the link below.
http://www.gehmann.com/english/products ... tegorie=20
Anyway it was good for either distance or the front sight, BUT could not focus on BOTH.we all know that the eye cannot focus on two points at once and neither can the +1.5 . so I ordered the 0.0 and wow I can focus on the front sight and the target at the same time,,NO it's not perfect but it's dam close to it !!, I am 49 years old and use reading glasses and can no longer focus on the front sight but thanks to this product I feel like I am 30 again and can see the target clearly and the front sight again.
NOTE this may not work for everybody but it helped me.

As someone who knows very little about these type of sights it was interesting looking at some of the products in your links. I was just wondering, are there any sites you recommend which give information about these type of sights so a peep sight newbie like myself can learn a bit about them? I intend to build a TR rifle sometime but am not one of those who started out in TR before trying F class.

Rod, unless you wear prescription glasses (which I don't think I have seen you wear) you don't really need to worry about any of these irises. Just a standard adjustable iris with a few coloured filters would do the job for starters. But if you are looking for a website to find out more about real sights, I don't think that you would be able to surpass the knowledge of most of the guys on this forum. Or next time your at cessnock just have a chat with Rob A or Duncan and Alex.
I've got a feeling Gertrude may be a touch overweight, we're only allowed 6.5kgs.

Re: new Gehmann o.o diopter review, only two in Australia so
I shoot mainly open sighted rifles with peep sights and have for years, since I was 10 years old, and I have tried lots of peeps ect but have never used tiger tunnels or filters as they are not allowed in service rifle comps, and my club the MRCA at anzac range in sydney never allowed anything except glasses, I tried glasses and got huge groups due to the magnifying effect, anyway due to the aging shooting population at the club they have allowed for local competition only miso inserts, this helped heaps, but this 0.0 lens gives me an almost perfect sight picture.
Anyway as to what sights to buy, the other guys have said it all. and I couldn't add more.

I likely wont be able to get to Cessnock until next year, but then I am not in too much of a hurry to learn about these sights. When I do get back there, like you say I would do well to have a good chat to Rob A or with Duncan and Alex. Still, in the meantime I like to read about these various technical aspects and would like to browse through info on these sights which are an alien concept for some of us.
BTW, I would likely start with a 223 TR rifle.
