You're right - these are two competing priorities. Maybe a good compromise would be to only have squadding at major (Queens level) events. Then you'll still have plenty of opportunity for integration between disciplines, and the big events (in terms of $ and time costs) are made fairer.

We want squadding for a fairer score, not necessarily better score. Like has been mentioned,

Exactly, you don't run horse races by having each horse run at a different time of the day, why have shooters shoot sometimes up to 2 hours apart.....

Probably should be another topic but squadding doesn't have to mean T/R shooters and FClass don't integrate. They can shoot on the same target just at different times by their position on the board. NQ Queens did it very well last year. As stated by Rod Jason and Alan (world class shooters that don't need any help) it is about fairness not individuals getting a better score.
Done wrong though as has happened at Belmont and other places it is better not done at all.

This issue comes up in many discussions. Here's what comes up searching "squadding":
https://www.ozfclass.com/phpbb/search.php?keywords=%2Bsquadding&terms=all&author=&fid%5B%5D=41&sc=1&sf=all&sr=topics&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Here's the thread started for squadding: https://www.ozfclass.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8023, but there's several other threads with relevant posts.

We Match Rifle guys have gotten used to short range at lower Light. It's when you get back to 1000 and beyond that the trouble starts.

Rick,

No need to mention the weather and how warm it is. I wanted to see the northern states turn up wearing shorts, thongs and a t shirt

Squadding has nothing to do with "better sores". All squadding does is ensure those that are competing against each other (same grade or discipline) are competing in the same conditions to create the most even playing field.

I don't care if I'm shooting in a 30mph rain squal providing my direct opposition is doing the same. :D

Hi All,
I'm currently on a train to Sydney for the 10am flight to Adelaide (guns and stuff are being transported by road, thanks Rod & Lewis)
Hope the flight dosen't drag on too long :D
Looking forward to 8 days of shooting and all the usual banter.
If it's a similar set up to last year there will be some great prizes and the food wagon at each range is a good thing.
Good luck to all attending!
We don't rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training. Archilochos 680-645 BC
