6.5 Grendel for hunting

Post by Barossa_222 »

Hi all. Not F class related, but is anyone using a Grendel with light bullets on here? What powders are you using? Looking to shoot 85-95gr pills at game. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

that would depend on the game and the range.
those bullets are generally designed for varmints, so terminal ballistics might be unsuitable for bigger game without perfect shot placement.
a low energy cartridge would also demand perfect shot placement on game other than varmints.
how much energy is suitable at the max intended range for intended targets?
hunting is often best done by using point blank zero, e.g. +/- 2" and aim dead on.
will this trajectory suit your job?
keep safe,
bruce.

All very light game. Mostly kangaroos at less than 200 yards. I figure I can punch an 85-95gr bullet into one's head from any angle and it will mitigate the likelihood of a bullet blowing up on ones nose.

it might suit that job well.
low recoil, easy to shoot, and accurate, with good barrel life.
those varmint bullets might minimize riquochets.
keep safe,
bruce.
