I also use LEE collet dies exclusively.

If you are leaving die marks on the necks, you are using WAY too much pressure. Go to P 1 and re-read ALL of scott/r's re-print of John Valentine's article on how to use and set up a LEE collet die.

Hey fellas,

Just out of curiosity, what sort of neck run out are you achieveing using Lee Collet dies?
Then after bullet seating, what is your projectile run out?

Wal86, if your reloading dies are straight/true ( via good gear being set up properly ) then I'd ask how on earth could there be any runout ?

That's always been the question for me regarding runout. I do notice some very dodgy measuring tools available to check for a problem that to me should not be there in the first place.

Doug Veal in South Australia makes a very good spinner, not sure if his still making them..

Anyway still would like to know what neck run out is achieved by Lee collet dies? Then after your projectile is seated?
There has been a few comments about straight ammo achieved using these dies.

Generally under 0.001" total indicated runout. That translates to 0.0005" actual. Rarely exceeds 0.002" T.I.R.

Cant check runnout on the case as the "grooves" show a jump, but after seating with a forster BR seater, I typically get half the rounds with zero runnout, another 40% with up to .001, and the rest at 10
% or less with .001 to .003.

The Lee collet die works, it just works based on a simple non complicated design. Remember that all that glitters is not always gold, and conversely, just because the Lee Die doesn't cost a fortune, and densest have an expensive brand name attached doesnt mean its not gold, or wont size brass consistently and accurately.
