Dyer HBC or Optimus HBC

Post by Ken Melgaard »

Just looking for some info on the Dyer or Optimus HBC bullets if anyone has some they could measure for me please
The info that l am wanting, is the Boat Tail length and the the bearing length or base to ogive length
As l am looking at making some 30 caliber x 155.5 grain VLD Bullets as a comparison
So just curious and to compare them to some older Berger 155 grain VLD Bullets as l am interested in the length of the Boat Tail and a bearing length between 0.350” to 0.400”
And any feedback on if anyone has used the current Berger 155 VLD bulllets
Thanks for your help and assistance

Excellent, that’s what I needed
I appreciate your help Peter
I thought that the boat tail was shorter on the HBC!! (0.180” long)
The old specs that l had on the Berger was a 0.145” long BT and a bearing length of 0.395” with a 14 degree Secant ogive
Thanks again Peter
Cheers

If you have GRT I managed to get the information on the HBC(P) submitted before Gordon passed away, all the diagramatic stuff will be there.

Why can’t these projectiles be remade again the tooling etc wouldn’t have disappeared would they , where does it end up ? Same as the old Taipan bullets . Everything seems to stop in its tracks when someone dies

Taipan stuff all got ditched to a big hole in the ground. Hbc closed up believe David Gifford has relocated to Texas and is making other projectiles at the moment and not returning any products to Australia .
