Lest We Forget

Post by Southcape »

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

I would also like to thank you Linda. Not only do we all need to be reminded of the ultimate sacrifice some men and women have made for us but we must ensure our ANZAC tradition carries on. It is equally as important to fill our childrens ears with the stories of heroism, honour and sacrifice of these magnificent people. Let the memory of the ANZACS and all who have fallen (and served) live forever.

These words are my husbands, but they are very true.

The long range rifle shooting movement in Australia was built on the training our young diggers received at rifle ranges all over Australia. Today, almost 100 years after this occurred, some of us have the privilege to fire on these ranges where these young men came to learn the craft of shooting.

Today, the reasons we learn rifle shooting is different, but we must never forget where our movement came from. Today is the day all rifle shooters can be proud of our past and traditions built into our matches we see today.

When we shoot on old ranges, our young mates that never came home shoot with us.

Lest We Forget.
