Borescope

Post by saum2 »

Anybody bought one of the Ebay 5.5mm borescopes ? One from China is $217.00. has colour 3.5" screen with flexible tube, Led light etc The 5.5mm camera would fit down a 6mm barrel alright. cheaper than a Hawkeye.
Or is there a better alternative?

Hi Geoff Had a look at the specs of the Ebay borescopes and the focussing range doesn't really suit for barrel inspections. Also they don't have a right angle viewing capability which is generally (read always) the way most bore inspections are done. If you were to make up a mirror tube to give right angle viewing the diameter of the assembly would be increased so it may only work for say 30 calibre or bigger. I have seen some of these borescopes or inspection cameras and the image quality isn't all that great and I think they would have very limited used for any meaningful bore inspection applications. I would personally put that $200 odd dollars toward a Hawkeye that does the job properly.
Regards Malcolm.

Thanks Malcolm,
That's way I asked, you get what you pay for! Limiting to 30cal is not really want we want, But I reckon viewing down the barrel would be ok if it would focus at a short distance.
Good try Brad Y. no money to waste.
cheers
