Post by SunnyCoast 5r »

Has anyone had any success with the new 175gr TMKs (bc545) and 2206h in their 308?

Anyone with load tips for the regular 175 SMKs with 2206h in 308?

Yes, my local gunshop at Maroochydore ordered in a box of 100 for me last week. Not sure where to start with a load...ADI book has load for SMKs...might just try a midpoint load and see how they go. They look good. More uniform with the plastic tip and supposedly 50-75 fps quicker with impressive bc.

Believe the 2206h is what we call H4895 over here. About 41.5 to 42.0gr. is a max. load. Pretty popular over here but I would say Varget or what you call 2208 is more popular currently.

Hope this helps.

Later, Frank

Thanks for the input fellas. I will try loading some at .3 gr intervals and go from there. They do look pretty good. And the Berger 185 jugs that everyone seems to recommend are rare as tits on a bull!
Thx Peter

Finally started to develop this load over the last month: and it looks ok so far. Out of my stock rem 700 with 24" 5r barrel with the max ADI load for 2206H I shot a 62.3 for the 2 string at 300m (including a 4 from missing a wind shift) which is my best shooting so far. No velocity data yet (est 2650fps). OAL is 2.85" but I might try seating them out a touch. Very nice looking round in shiny new Lapua cases. Hope I can buy some more of these projectiles.

As a side note it is interesting to be checking groupings at longer distances instead of my traditional SSAA? 100m efforts. You really get to see the groups shrinking or not.

Now for a new bipod and a bit of a tweek of the trigger.
