Sprinter barrels

Post by Kakaduthunder »

Sprinter barrels. Anyone have experience with them? My gunsmith swears by them but sadly I am a sucker for things I have seen or heard about first hand from others. I believe they are based in S A but have no website I can find. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Never heard of anyone using them for f class but they could be out there.

I bought one years ago in .257 cal and it shot very well. That was a chrome moly barrel though.

My advise is I don't think they would be up to the task
And you probably get what you pay for.

Spot on. I have fitted quite a few on hunting rifles 20+ years ago. I felt that they were equivalent to the average factory barrel of the day. In those days they were not lapped.

I've had 6mm stainless, 257 chrome molly, 7mm chrome molly, 358 chrome molly, 458 chrome molly and not to forget a 22 Falcon that was also a chrome molly barrel
All shot great and I even shot the 6 mm in Field Rifle competition. Back then I hunted a lot and Sprinter barrels were run by John and Keith, I got great service for what I wanted to do.
Who is your gunsmith?
What do you want to shoot?
What do you expect from a barrel?
Cheers
Paul
