FX 300 i scales

Hi All,
Since my chargemaster has died and the new scale ended up drifting 3 full gns from zero I saw on a previous post that the FX 120 i had a positive review.
I tried to source one locally and seems the 120 isn't imported but they recommended the FX 300 i
Does anyone know if this will be as good, just a greater capacity?
I was quoted $850 + del $20

The FX300i will do the job.
Price sounds good as I paid more than that for my 120i
A lifetime investment --end of worries.

The following site which sells scientific scales has a very interesting blurb. http://balance.balances.com/scales/1223. It talks about electronic interference, and other design issues and briefly describes the fx120i which they sell. At the bottom of the page they say where they are made and talk about another scale they sell too. Interesting. The one thing I hate about beam scales which I use and are accurate, I have trouble seeing the level as my eyes deteriorate. So I think it depends on how much shooting you do from an economic perspective. I am in no doubt that Barry and Tony have proved their worth for precision shooting.

i bought a second hand unit. i think its a 200i. when i got it i tested it against some huge dollar lab scales in a local research lab and it was extreemly accurate. it was always 100% to .02 of a grain. the only issue was it read .02 hugh on every different weight

I use the FX 300 scale.
Just larger capacity than the 120 I believe.
My opinion is like Barry's.
Excellent scale.

Tim,
My AnD120i were something like $800 delivered about two years ago when the dollar was near parity, but Denis Aarons from North Arm found somewhere in Canada and got his landed for just over half that.
Slip him a PM and ask for hos supplier if he doesn't chip in to this thread.

Sounds like a bulk order to the sellers might find some room to move on price. Just thinking out loud, just maybe if we are weighing primers an accurate scale to accommodate and measure case capacity by metho or water is justified. As much as people hate the extra work, and they dismiss it, for the pedants among us, it has its rewards. David.

one of the guys at our club rigged up a Web Cam camera pointed at the balance needle of a tuned scale and displayed on a big screen. It's really clear and you can position the display exactly where it's comfortable to see. It's much cheaper, just as accurate and actually easier to see than my digital scales with no electrical interference so it's a pretty clever idea!

I misquoted the price before, I did get one for $893 delivered. anyscales QLD
The US ones were $610 + $150 del + exchange difference, figured it wasn't worth it.

I have been using an older fx 300 for 25 years. It is still running strong. Recently purchased the newer version for our US trip and brought it home.

An antistatic mat and earth strap are well worthwhile (as is a very solid/concrete bench). Check your calibration before each loading session (I make ss weights around the powder weight). - Look after them and they are a lifetime investment.

Tony, I bought mine when our dollar was stronger than the Canadian. The scale was $400 Canadian. At the time I was surprised because all other American companies were asking $600ish. Shipping was $150 Canadian.

I got a couple of mates on to them at the time as well.

The company in Canada had obviously cottoned on as the price of the next batch after they ran out went up. Their price is now $610. I'm pretty sure it was Aaronraad who alerted everyone to the site and price at the time.

Dave,
I'm currently setting up my loading room and was going to set the scales on a steel stand (100x100SHS with a plate on top) independent of the bench dyna bolted to the floor so it wouldn't have any vibration from the press etc.
Is this a good way to do it or is a concrete bench better for any reason?
Also how do you earth the scale?

the deal there was they had done a big order to set up a research facility and then the deal had fallen through so they were only ever going to sell one lot at that price. i nearly bought one and then found i could get the next grade up at a cheaper price second hand from england
