Lots of shooters in SA using the Krieger 5R barrels. They are definitely easier to clean but no more accurate than the conventionally grooved barrel.

We have a new 5C (canted lands) Broughton barrel up here. Very accurate and fast barrel. Cleans easily as well. Only fairly new and hasn't proven itself fully yet but early signs are very promising. But to weight the other side of the argument - we have had conventional rifling do the same.

I've got two 5R's in 308 and I don't think they're much different from

the conventional rifling. They might be easier to clean.

Interesting opinions there. Is it only US barrel manufacturers that make them at the moment?

Brad,
Bartlein Barrel company is probably the maker of the most 5r barrels here in the USA. They make some super barrels. I have been using them for a good number of years. Barrels clean up very easy and are very uniform. I had six 6.5/284 barrels and used the same load in all 6 to good effect.

I thought True-Flite Barrels also used canted lands... Their website says they do, although refer to them as "angled lands"... NZ company. Website is:

Cheers.
I have a cunning plan...

Truflite do a 6 Groove canted Lands and I have one of those as well. It sure shoots well but didn't clean that much better. But judjements really hard to make on 1 or 2 barrels.
