Velocity and BC for Winchester factory 69gn .223 Ammo?

Post by mars »

Hi guys,

We have just bought some Winchester Factory .223 69gn ammo for the club for new shooters to try at 3,4 and 500m.

Does anyone know the muzzle velocity of this ammo and what projectile it has? I'm assuming it's Sierra HPBT, but could be wrong.

Thanks in advance

Alan

Hi Alan

I coached some young shooters using this ammo a couple of weekends ago. I think at those ranges its plenty accurate enough for younger shooters to learn about the sport and what wind can do to your bullet. While my calls werent always right, the ammo seemed to work well enough and held pretty good waterline for beginners too. I dont know what velocity it was doing. Sierra 69gr HPBT's are correct.

Thanks Brad,

I've seen velocities of 2820, 2850, 2950 and 3061ft/sec banded about a bit. I'm kinda hoping it's up near the 2950-3000 ft/sec, if only to help a bit in the breeze.
