F Open Rifle needed for the Nationals

Post by Woody_rod »

Hello all,

We could really use someone that is going to Brisbane, to bring a spare Open rifle. We will pay for ammo and cost of barrel usage etc no problem. We have March and NF scopes etc if required.

Please email me direct at

Rod,
I would suggest you get in contact with Mark at wild Dog. He turned up with several rifles at the QRA queens. He won several ranges with various rifles and then "experimented" in one way or another to successfully come last in others. A real character. :D Anyway long and short he might be approachable as he did mention he would like to get some "good shooters" shooting his rifles and think he has settled on his own competition rig.

email Wild Dog Australia [info@wilddog.com.au]
amongst his "quiver" was a good 6XC, 260 Ackley, 7mm-08 Ackley (which was pushing 284 speeds) etc.

Rod,
If all else fails I probably have some options we can discuss in Perth.
Cheers,

Rod, will he be shooting the whole program? I have a spare FO rifle in 284w. Not sure if it will go the distance as it has done about 2000rds. Still very competitive the way it is at present. I have won a lot of shoots with this one. See what you think, but it is available.

If that is the rifle you used in Mackay Cameron I would say that is very generous. If you didn't follow the results Rod - Cameron was very dominant and won every daily agg. I can supply a good BR as backup if it does start to fall apart.

Also if this is your "second" rifle Cameron, you must have something pretty good in the bag coming on???? Sounds like some good competition for Nationals if you are shooting well, Andrew Pearce, Some unnamed world record holder, Rod Davies etc etc ( I am sure there is more and sounds like a lot of people trying to get there)!! Watch out Brisbane! Should be great!

ps I think I have gotten my 284 Shehane run in now and will be trying my hardest to keep up with you guys.

As I said -Should be great. :D

Dave, I used a different rifle at Mackay with a fresh 284 barrel. Will be using that one in Brisbane. My now, spare rifle, has been kind as well. Just not sure how long the barrel will go.
Will be watching out for you I reckon with that 284 Shehane.

We have to offer HUGE thanks to Wild dog. Mark has come to our assistance.

Thanks to all that have offered their rifles. It is great to know the Aussie Spirt of helping out a mate in need, is still strong.

I look forward to meeting you all at the Nationals. :D

Which rifle is Mark lending the secret shooter who may, or may not be the the Captain of an International Team   :-$ ?
I heard a rumour on the corner about Marks brand new 284 shooting awsome scores in its very first outing.

Just hope my new 6.5 Gertrude will perform as expected.

Dave, the 6.5 Gertrude (223 WSSM necked up to 6.5) makes the 284 FA look like a Miss Universe contestant.
It was named after an ex girlfriend, its short, fat, sloping shoulders, short neck, but a deep throat. Just wish I could get the cartridge to feed as easy as the ex girlfriend. :-k

Being a lead up to the World Palma Championships and having top shelf international contestants in the mix, it should be a good competition.

Thanks to Rod Shehan and Mark for helping the overseas visitors. =D>

I pray for you Rod that she's not as temperamental as some of my ex's  ! Sounds exciting - in every way.....
