Mine's in (well at least WARA have charged my credit card for it!), Alec is in.
I've only used my rifle about three times this year due to lots of work-related travel and a fairly strident pistol club's attendance Nazi. It sounds like none of us are going to win :-), but I'll bet Mark is going to be hard to beat despite the protestations!
SO far, it looks like a 6.5x55 (AI?), 6.5x47, 6mmBR and a .308. For what it's worth, the scores on my setup don't change much between f-class STD and Open, so there's no reason the .308 will be a handicap, especially if it's got higer BC projectiles. I think my f-open setup is marginally more tolerant of my poor technique due to the lighter trigger weight, but the 'wind bucking' abilities of the open calibres is not as huge an advantage as people seem to think.
Looking foward to some more lessons from 'The Doctor'.
cheers,
Andrew.

Andrew,

Im using 175gr SMK projies in my 308 rifle. Calced wind drift at 1000yds is around the same as 155gr loads. Im not pushing it really hard, only 2655fps at 0 degrees C and should be doing around 2680fps during the Queens with the temps around 15-20 degrees C I think its gonna be. I have a 26" barrel so my MV is pretty low compared to some but if you look at the 2004 F/TR champ in the USA, he was using same projies and a load that did 2610fps and won the comp!! so wind drift and MV isnt everything. Im just hoping my load is upto it. Ive weight sorted all my brass and also weight sorted my projies. Just gotta load and seat now.

I had a lil hiccup in that the load I was going to use went to crap at 1000yds the other day, went high, low, left, right and just plain crazy!!! so I've swapped to my 175gr SMK load which was gonna be my backup. Im more confident in this load so heres hoping it does well for me and all my prep hasent been for naught.

Hope everyone elses prep is going well. I look forward to meeting all of you this weekend. if I dont see you, look out for the youngun shooting a desert camo remington 308 and thats me.

Regards,

Shaun

Well - first day was cancelled due to high winds and hail. Apparently the target frames were in danger of snapping from the air pressure.
At least the F-open is officially happening, we were all given our envelopes with squadding and score cards, so we're good to go tomorrow, maybe...
I might go to my pistol club and let of a hundred rounds or so in frustration this afternoon.
cheers,
Andrew.

Apparently we are expecting those high winds tomorrow so we shot our long ranges today.
