F CLASS STATE TEAMS
Moderator: Mod
John, I do agree that ideally it should move around the country, but the match itself needs to be first priority, Get the thing established and then think about a shift around. It's all very well to say every state gets a turn, but whats the point if no one is interested. The shooters themselves have the power to dictate where the shoot is best located and I would hope that consideration is taken before forcing it upon a location without first asking some questions.
If I wanted the match at my doorstep I would say Bendigo, it's half hour up the road, but I suggest Canberra, 8 hours drive for me, because I see it as the best venue for good attendance, at this stage of the game.

NQRA 2012
TRA 2014
QRA 2015
SARA 2016
NTRA 2018
WARA 2019
Realistically, the above schedule is going to struggle to get a full complement of F-Class teams. It almost looks as though the NRAA is testing the resolve of F-Class to show it is serious about team shooting. What would irk me is if doubts are raised about its viability based on attendances at some of the outlying venues.
Fortunately for F-Class, our numbers are growing, and if the shooters want a national teams event, it will continue and prosper in spite of what looks like being a slow start caused by a questionable venue schedule.

2012 FClass National Teams
Hi! to all you guys below the Brisbane line. I Read with great interest & some amusement at your logic and displeasure about traveling above the Brisbane line for a National Teams shoot.
The Target Rifle group and the National Ladies, and not forgetting the Australian Veterans Rifle Shooters, must think the F Class shooters are a lot of whingers. These groups hold their National Teams Shoots in a different state every year, and enjoy their shoots. just try and centralize those shoots, and see what happens.
Most of the North Queensland F Class rep team that traveled to Canberra for the National F Class teams Shoot in 2010 had to travel over 3000ks to get to the shoot. Not one of the team members complained about the distance traveled. Each member of the team thought it was an honor to be selected to represent their state. Travel did not come into the equation.
So Guys get your shooters motivated, and come to Mackay. You will change your minds about traveling, after you have been there.

John,
I agree with most of what you say. However I think you would agree that it could have been given more of a kick start by having the centrally located ones first.
It was great to see the roll-up of F-Std at Canberra, but can I ask you this - why was there no NQRA F-Open Team? Is it because there were not enough F-Open shooters willing to travel that far?

Interesting observations John
I will give you some of mine
The TR team are funded by their clubs and state
Our state TR team runs the bar$$$$
Vets mostly retired have all the time in the world to tour around
Ladies Teams are struggling from what I have heard!
Now F-Class most are not retired most have young families and are employed or self employed.
NQ did field a FS team only in Canberra 2010 and was a no show in Bendigo 2009
Was this due to NQ
Displeasure about travelling BELOW the Brisbane line for a National Teams shoot
I guess we will see a full complement in Tas 2014
Will NQ be fielding and FO TEAM?
I sent an email to NQRA some months ago asking some questions about the venue still no reply. I did use their web site to forward my request maybe that’s not working.
As the South Australian state team manager I don’t know why a few simple questions can not be answered in a reasonable time frame.
And I can not find a contact email or phone No. anywhere any suggestions: idea:
Adam Davies has got it spot on it’s about nurturing this event not setting it up for failure.

if such places want to host events and generally promote the sport in their areas, they must learn to answer emails.
for people to travel the distances required, they need information to base their plans on. and believe it they do have to plan.

Hi guys,
personally I think there is one big positive long term plan here. By spreading out the first few events. It brings more of the high level shooters to the regional areas and exposes locals to such events. A bit of short term pain for long term gain and higher participation in the sport. It will also encourage some of us "northerners" to return the favour and get to the other events in the future.
A few of us have come back from last Mackay and Brisbane Queens with a strong intent to encourage as many shooters as we can to get to the NQRA queens (and indeed the team shoot) next May. At a club level up here the F open and F standard shooters outnumber the TR shooters but at the queens events the ratio is definately the other way around. This is slowly changing but we need to encourage the club shooters to attend such big events and the best way to do that is to bring one to them.
I for one am really looking forward to the event.
Cheers,
Dave McNamara
