NQRA Queens and State Teams F-Open Blog

Post by AlanF »

Hello from Mackay,

This is I believe the biggest gathering of F-Open shooters ever, about 35 I'm told. Not all are competing in every event, but the Queens could have about 30.

Mackay is an interesting city - very busy, roads congested, cues in KFC, accommodation very scarce etc. Apparently the inland mining boom is the cause.

The range is picturesque (broadleaf forest all around), and very well maintained.

The Leadup here is just one day with 600yd x 15, 800m x 15 then 300yd x 10. Conditions seemed easy most of the time, but there were many stories of wide shots with no apparent reason in either flags or mirage. So "tricky at times" would be an apt description. That didn't stop Rod Mahon from getting a 60.10 at 300, and there were some very good 90s at 600 and 800.

In the morning I'll inquire about getting some detailed results for today and tomorrow. Cameron McEwan just pipped Marty Lobert today I believe. My impression was that the North Queensland shooters are looking very strong for the Queens and Teams.

Hope to have some more details tomorrow night.

Here's the F-Open scoreboard for the Stephens Griffiths leadup. 32 shooters, and a well-deserved win to Cameron. =D>

I hope to have nightly results for the Queens starting later tonight.

OK, now what about some stories?
Gotta be some news, scandals, gossip, malicious slander from the pits? Gotta be some juicy gossip getting around.

Rod, as usual Marty is being troublesome, putting shit on everyone. He won today and is on top of the world.
Great comp so far. Lot's of contenders for the Queens agg to be decided tomorrow. Double 800mtrs.

Daily aggs for Queens day 2, thanks to Mike (Bartman) for the photos :

This is going to be a great F-Open Queens to win - 37 competitors, the most ever to date and possibly for some time into the future. And with 2 x 800m tomorrow, many shooters in with a chance.

I'll take the notebook to the range tomorrow, and try to post ASAP after the finish.

Marty being troublesome, never. (unless you are a jealous husband or father of a daughter between 18-48
So are we going to see another Cameron/Marty tie going into the last range like in Belmont???

How are things going in F STD A grade?
