Goulburn Valley PM and Karramomus Picnic shoot.

Post by Barry Davies »

Following receipt of flyers for the above mentioned meetings I contacted the secretary of #5 and requested they increase the badge numbers for F Open in a bid to attract a few more competitors (the advertised allocation is 1 for both meetings, not an attractive proposition in my book). The last handfull of prize meetings have yielded 10 entries and up to 13 recently at Warracknabeal, in all, a vast increase in entries over the last few years.

The reply from #5 was not the desired response, but to their credit was encouraging, they have decided not to increase the advertised badge list, but will do so providing entries are substantial enough to warrant it. I can appreciate this decision to a point, apparently some badges have been thrown in the bin because entry numbers at past events were poor or non existent, (been there and done that before too)

I have a confirmed number of 6 entries for Saturday which is a good start and theres plenty more of you blokes who talk the talk and never get out and do some walking! it's a two way street between shooters and organisers and only your support will ensure future events.

The above condition applies for Sundays picnic shoot also.
Lets see you there.

Regards
Adam Davies.

I was hoping you'd chime in with numbers Chop, sounds like it will be a worthwhile event for all concerned.
See you Saturday.

Unfortunately I won't be there this year, due to family commitments. Great to see the numbers are already up.

But good news, I have signed up one more member and he will be shooting F Open (My son Nick). So that is +1 for F Open.

Now I'll feel the pain of loading for 2 not 1 :-(

Barry,

The Vets PM is run on a handicap basis using the VRA averages as a base. THey have never had a lot of F-Open competitors (one in 2011) but it seems feasible to run the F-Class competition with both open and standard competitors as the averages should give a level playing field. It is all a bit of fun in the end regardless.

Yes, I guess if handicaps are used it does not matter if all are lumped in together.

Sorry to hear that Chop, sometimes things need to be put aside at last minute.

Would have been good to see your other fellas there to fill the void though.
Maybe next year.

Karramomus PM today.
Cold, blustery, couple of showers.
Scores generally down due to rather rough conditions at 400 yards.
59 shooters total with 26 F class -- zero FO so does'nt look good for next year.
Phil Jonkers ( Wangaratta ) won the day in FSA with 177 shooting a 223 followed by Noel Uren ( Bacchus Marsh ) on 174
They had packed up the score board before I got a look at it but think FSB was won by Maurice Jackman (Nathalia ) on 171 followed by Di Jonkers on 169.

Davies Triggers have offered to donate the FO badges ( three ) for the #5 DRA meeting next year, in an effort to get more FO shooters to attend. This means no cost to #5 for badges so no excuse for not providing more than one.
