2209 in 308

Post by Quick »

G'day all,

What barrel length in a 308 would you need for 2209 to have an advantage in MV over 2208? Just trying to decide on barrel length for my FS rifle. I wouldnt mind trying 2209 out.

Cheers all.

Shaun,
I doubt it would ever have an advantage with 155 grain projectiles, velocity wise. I use 2209 in .308 Match rifle loads,34" barrel and 208 grain projectiles.A long drop tube is needed to get the powder to fit. I think you would be better off using 2208 or 2206H.

I reckon you'd need to make the brass about an inch longer

Haha, probably. I like tinkering so trying 2209 would have been interesting to try. But I don't want a 34 in barrel soo yeah. Ohh well.

It's all good fun :)
