80 Grain MK's

Post by Ackley Improved »

Quick one...

What are these suckers worth per 500?

Going through one of those should I or shouldnt I moments with building a fast twist 223. Plan on shooting the 80MK's, just curious on their price.

Cheers

Mate

I had a look there, just I am uncertain how often the site is updated. The prices could be a year old for all I know.

The SARA shop page has a date showing when it was last updated, currently it says the 23/8/07, so a couple of weeks ago.

 What substitute bullet, I doubt it's even being considered. Sadly with several Queens shoots in the next few months it is going to be a major problem VERY soon for anyone who doesn't keep ahead of their supply needs. I suppose though it is one way to get .556 "rat guns" of the range.

I believe that the NRAA carried out a trial of an 80 gn Nosler for the 556. Dont know the results but it may be decided at the October meeting of the Board.

Triple J would be able to clarify when he gets back in the country.

Thankyou very much James for the information, it's good that something is happening. It's just unfortunate for those who don't have projectiles available to shoot the SA Queens this month.

Hi Lynn

I can spare some 80gn SMK's if it will allow someone to shoot in your Queens. Moly coated though which may or may not suit.

Thanks Mark and Paul for your offer, the thought is very much appreciated and it's pleasing to see people being helpful. As it happens I am supplying the required projectiles to the person in question as I will not be shooting the Queens now. This person is a new, young shooter and it would have been sad not to be able to shoot their first Queens after working toward it all year.

I just find it disappointing that this problem has been apparent for several months now, and while I appreciate that decisions and actions take time, there has been no information or communication on what was happening. We have all just received the latest magazine, how hard would it have been to put in a notice saying "We are aware of the problem and are working toward a solution as quickly as possible". This would have eased members minds that the problem was being addressed. Anyway, enough negative for today, again thankyou for the offers. :D
