Barnard Action

Post by Peterla »

Hi,

I am looking at getting a barnard action and building a F-Class 223.
I would also like to be able to change it to a 308 for some shoots.

Is the best option to buy another bolt or is there an option with one bolt for this type of setup.

Any help appreciated.

There are 2 options. You can buy one complete bolt in which ever size, then buy a separate bolt body in the other size (without firing pin/spring) and swap pins and springs over with each caliber change. Takes one minute, no tools.

I,m pretty sure others have used a 308 bolt and just swapped extractors over when changing calibers. Is that right Matt?
Which Barnard action are you looking at, the P or S model?

Hi Pete

Iv been running a Barnard for about 4 years now all I do is swap the extractor over from 308 to 223 this works really well.

Pete, seek advice from Keith Hills at www.KHGS.com.au. I have a switch barrel set up, started with switching extractors using 308 boltface, but went to the two bolt bodies / single firing pin solution..very easy and you don't run the risk of losing the small extractor components.

Thanks for all the comments.
Look like I will get a 308 P setup that I can the adjust to a 223.
I will contact Keith and see what he indicates is a good option aswell.

Thanks again for all the comments
