What are people doing to keep their tuners clean and more specifically keep them from being damaged by your favourite copper solvent.
It was first time out for me yesterday with a new Krieger and Davies tuner and with the process involving a fair bit of cleaning i've now got a tuner that's looking pretty dirty including some marks from the solvent.
The only plus is that after settling down, the barrel doesn't seem to want to pick up any copper, so I really don't need the copper solvent anyway.
Still i'd welcome tips and tricks from people about keeping the whole setup clean.
I don't often use a copper solvent (I clean regularly with Subaru upper engine cleaner & less regularly with JB Bore Brite), but I have a depth micrometer & record my tuner settings relative to the flat of the muzzle. That way I can take them off if needed.
But, hey, why would solvent be much worse that the fouling you get all over the bugger when it overhangs the muzzle?
would anyone like to analyse the marks on the muzzle?
they look a little uneven to me, but it could be the way the picture was taken or the light.

Thanks guys. I've dealt with the making it clean thing by putting it in the ultrasonic cleaner.
Keeping the solvent out of it in the first place will be interesting though. One of the benefits of a behind the muzzle tuner I suppose.
I'm hoping I can get an insert that I can screw in for cleaning to keep the rubbish out and allow the cleaning patches to come off the jag cleanly rather than just drop into the tuner.
As for the gas marks on the muzzle. I've already got my clubs resident tea leaf reader onto it but they're being a little coy about what the future holds for me.
More seriously though it was a lot more even early on (about 65 round count when the photo was taken). I don't know where that shiny patch on left of the photo is. It wasn't so noticeable to the eye.

At a guess I would say it is a reflection from something,[flash] as if you look closely you will see it carries through to the inside of the tuner. Or, the other way round, a reflection from the inside of the tuner to the crown?
