Difficult to locate sports study - SE QLD

Post by DenisA »

I just found this .pdf. I thought the shooting section was interesting.

The Sunshine Coast Council has listed Stage 1, regarding the Clay target club as a high priority.

Stage 2 is to identify an area suitable for a National standard Fullbore range as "The only existing national standard facility is at Belmont and the long term viability of this facility remains uncertain given its location and the pressures of urban consolidation within Brisbane".

Its at the bottom of page 38..

Maybe Belmonts days really are numbered?

Maybe we need to support the efforts at Gympie, just in case. The petition is closed but I believe the fight goes on.

We should support it anyway, simply because its a shooting facility.

Its my understanding that the QLD State Government signed a 99 year lease on Belmont in the last 10 years. So despite how urban the environment around the range, I believe they are reasonably secure. Not that that is a guarantee of anything.
