F T/R is being led by Alan Seaman in the second stage, (just like the first stage) with Ian Pavy in second and Greg Warrian in third place. This contest will go down to the last stage tomorrow to decide the top three, but Alan has a good lead in first place and will take some catching!

Congratulations to James Corbett for yet another TR win, to Bob Pederson for the same, to Richard Braund for a well deserved and long time coming F Open win, and to Alan Seaman for a very comprehensive win in the first official F/TR competition.

All in all, a pretty tight field in Open, right down to Michael Otto whose 6mm was hanging in there pretty well until 800m.

Today started off with light and fickle wind over the left shoulder, then eventually turned into a light to moderate wind from about 1 to 2 o'clock, not easy because of variations in both velocity and direction, and some quite heavy mirage at times. Tim Manning had his best day of the event, which included a 59. Coming into the last range I was 1 point ahead of RB and 2 ahead of Bruce. I was first of the 3 down and managed a 57.2. RB needed a 58 to beat me on X count which he did, then Bruce virtually needed a 60 which he didn't, so Richard had his first Queens win after several very close placings going back to about 2007. I don't particularly like losing a Queens, but looking on the bright side, if I got to choose another winner, RB would be it. The dedication he has for the sport generally, and in particular his Queens sponsor-raising efforts and SARA team captaincy are exceptional.

In F/TR there was an outstanding performance from Alan Seaman, whose score would have placed him 3rd in F-Open. He was the deserved winner of the Savage F/TR rifle, finishing well clear of the rest of the field, and 5 points better than F-Std A winner Bob Ped. F-Std B was won by a master A? Kerin who is Trev and Lynn Otto's grandson, and must be the youngest Queens winner ever. Congrats to all winners.

Time to begin breaking camp for an early start home tomorrow. Next blog Canberra in about 6 weeks time!

Congratulations to Alan, Bob and Richard for their Queen's F-Class wins.

Alan Seaman's score of 456.25 was pretty impressive in F T/R and also topped the F-Standard 'A' leader board by a few points and would have landed him 3rd place in F-Open had he entered that class.

It looks to me like F T/R is off to a pretty good start in SA and thanks must go to both SARA and FCASA. A very big thank you is also extended to Linda Shehan for arranging the Aust F-Class team trials and promoting our presence into the international arena. Well done Linda in coordinating the states to participate all across Australia!

Alan the 'A' is for Alex and yes I think at 12 years of age he quite probably is the youngest ever winner of a Queens, I know Mick was the youngest when he won Open in 2006 at 16 years.

for years it has been a pleasure the watch alan and richard duelling on the rifle range.
luck has not been with richard until now for a close win.
previous tussles have also been close, at times involving shootoffs.
this was richard's turn, but it is clear the dual will continue into the future.
reminds you of the hatfiels and the coys!
another noteworthy happening at this queens was the presence of linda sheehan.
she is a woman of great energy and commitment, as well as a fine human being.
it was an honour to get to know her.
i think the job she is doing is fantastic, and no one could do what she is doing better.

Micks just arrived home and said to tell you that the 6mm was doing just fine even at the 800m, there was no elevation shots, it was just the operator that failed to hang in there.

Well done Alan Seaman the first ever state FTR champion in Australia and also to the place getters Ian & Greg
Alan and the other 11 competitors are now part of the evolutionary history of F-Class in Australia.
And a special mention to our international competitor Grant whom travelled all the way from NZ to be part of the FTR competition.
Thanx also to all the FCASA members that helped with ammo and equipment checking for the throughout entire event.

I must admit it was a little strange NOT having to shoot off a totally foreign experience for me.
I was certainly a competition for the wind readers that’s for sure no home range advantage here.
I also agree with Bruce it was great pleasure to meet Linda what a switched on lady I am now convinced Linda is a worthy choice as the Australian F-Class Captain and with her leading a team to the world championships next year success is assured.

Great company look forward to the next one.

congratulations to Richard for the win! he's had the new rig humming since its arrival and it payd dividends when it really mattered.

there were some tough conditions for the entire 3 days. i don't think any shooter shot more than one 60 across the 8 ranges?? it was a.strong field but everyone had their fair share of torture at some point.

i was lucky enough to have Linda and Alan Seaman on my target. watching Alan methodically pick his way through wind and mirage for a f/tr win is something i enjoyed scoring for.

Well done Richard , Must be very satisfying to get this one. Such a tight field in what sounds like very tricky conditions. It all bodes well for FCWC team - everybody seems to be shooting well and it is going to be a tough job for the selectors. Looking down the list of nominees I can't see anyone that doesn't deserve a place!

I have returned back to WA for the first time in 6 weeks. Our dog didn't bite me, but the kids have certainly grown!

Bruce for running around when I arrived looking locating all the gear I needed, Dave Z, for allowing me to empty his sand bag into mine so I could compete with my own gear, Stuart for toast every morning (except the day RB beat you to it) Mike and Jenny for the bed last night and personal escort to the airport this morning. (I think Mike just wanted to make sure I got on that plane and you guys weren't stuck with me for longer)

I am sure there are many more thanks, please don't feel put out if I have forgotten you. Thanks to Mike Otto who had quite the challenge in scoring for me during the Hunt, as none of my sighters hit the target. My scope didn't like travel at all and the zero was well and truly out. I shot the whole Queens with no known wind zero. It was a real challenge at times. Thanks to my scorers in the Queens for tapping me and making sure I was awake.

I have arrived back in WA not really understanding just how tired I was, until I have been able to stop. Now I will take a few days of RandR and spend some time with my kids.
