I visited Bruno's shop in person in 1999. Bruno was offhand, tending towards being rude. His Daughter was lovely, and we were looked after. I have also met in person in the US
Bill Shehane: Great Bloke
Bruce Baer: Surley
Dave Tooley: OK
Bob Gamboa: fantastic

Hi All,
I just received my Hawkeye bore scope. 5 days from the moment they pulled the money out of my account. I don't know exactly yet but I must have saved well over $600 from buying locally.
Where the hell do Aussie distributors get off trying to charge what they do for exactly the same product.
Buying O.S isn't good for our own economy, but with examples like this, can we be blamed!
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Time to meet my barrels for the first time. I hope they don't look like your example Tony.
Cheers again.

I've just got home and eagerly started inspecting a few barrels.
I have a factory Savage 24" .308 blued barrel that has always copper fouled badly and been hard to clean. I found loads that would consistantly shoot .5 moa. I can see why its such a bad copper fouler now. The factory tooling marks are insane! I'm suprised it shoots .5.
I also have a factory Savage SS 6BR barrel. It will consistantly shoot in the mid .3's but not often better. Probably not great for a 6BR. It doesnt copper foul anywhere nearly as badly. The tooling marks are also there, but far, far better.
This is an incredible tool. In 30 minutes Its already given me a far better understanding of one difference between good barrels and bad barrels. No more guessing, hoping or assuming for me.
I also checked a barrel that I fouled last weekend and haven't cleaned or oiled. Some of the streaks of copper fouling are turning green. Corrosion I suspect. I didn't know that copper left in the barrel un-oiled did that!........... I dont like it............... won't do that again.
None of the barrels are too old though the cratering thats evident in the first few inches of some of them has also suprised me.
This tool is going to bring a hole new element of knowledge to my hobby/sport.
I just need to study up on the different images so that I can fully understand what they are and what Im looking at.
If anyone has any bore pictures and descriptions and wants to share, I'd be really interested see them. All sorts of conditions would be great.
I'll have to start searching the www
It really is amazing.

Denis,
+1 to what Matt said. Look down as many as you can !
I have tried fairly hard searching the www to find photos, but as you have probably already discovered, there is very little published.
Taking photos through your own borescope with a camera is also a bit tricky when you are trying to hold everything yourself.
I was actually planning to email Gradient Lens and see if they would help, as they would clearly have a whole bloody library of photos. I will let you know what they say.
Are you shooting at Bundaberg OPM ?

Extreme accuracy and precision shooting at long range can be a very addictive pastime.

Congrats on getting your bore scope.
They must be the greatest thing for scaring the shit out of you when looking inside your barrels. Probably been responsible for more barrels being replaced prematurely than anything! I find I have got over the initial burst of enthusiasm with mine and no longer peek thru my barrels when cleaning. One regret is not getting the right angled eye piece. And re the supernova light source - I changed my mini Maglite for one of Maglite's LED models and the lighting intensity is massively improved.
