I urge everyone to carefully read the NFA
And I expect most or all of this to be brought into effect by regulations which don't have to go before parliament but are signed off by the minister.

Most legislation comprises the Act and the Regulations. The Act contains the board policy while the regulations contains the operational side of how the Act will be administered. Both require parliamentary consent.

re John S's post,I have always believed that the act said one thing and the regulations could be anything that pertaind to the act,as it was written,in other words the commissioner of police could do what he/she liked,I hope I am wrong

Google "Legislative process explained" .... NSW parliament.
The bill or the Act must be passed by the upper house and lower house in NSW. The regulations under the Relevant Act is tabled in both houses and can he challenged by a member of parliament in either house. The commissioner of police must abide by the regulations. His power would be a delegated power under the Act and subsequently the requlations.

Yes it seems it is true Trevor passed this on to Betta and 5 year licence and ammo restrictions are real! I like Shane shot a serious amount, I have a bundle of barrels and I am always testing, how can they give us ammo restrictions? I normally shoot 2-3 times a week at least 20 odd rounds each time which is well over 3,000 .308 rounds a year not including OPM, Queens etc. A hunter might only shoot 50 rounds in the same time, how can they apply limits?
Not so worried about 5 year licence but that is an annoyance, but ammo restrictions is crazy, what if I want to shoot every day?

You have to contact your local state member.
It is not concrete as each state has to agree and pass legislation to comply.
Just as we have had differing state by state legislation for the last 20 years of the NFA!
However if we do nothing then we will certainly get all the extra hassles.
Even protesting to our current government may not make any difference but we should try?
