Small or large primer?

Hey,
It's the apprentice back again.
If I were to load my 308 to sub 300RUM velocities ie not overloading, would LR primer cases be preferable to the palma brass?
Do people get good results with winchester brass or is Lapua the go?

You'll get good results with Winchester brass but I find the primer pockets don't last long.

All depends on projectile and speeds.

185 is where I draw the line, above go for small, below go for large.

I have had good results with 185’s and large.

Winchester brass can be good, but I think it needs sorting and prepping more.

Pressure is the killer of primer pockets you need to be mindful of!!

I’ve seen some people using small printers with 155’s and really fast loads, 3200+ fps... it’s an each to their own situation really.

I'm not sure that there is ever a case for using large primers in preference to small, the small increase in cost of brass is soon repaid in extended brass life and a potential increase in accuracy. Regardless of that small and fast is where it's at

If your case holds the pr assure you require, most certainly you can achieve better SD’s with LR primer cases through more consistent ignition..

For example, the necks are invariably lop-sided.
