Optimus HBC Projectiles

Post by DannyS »

Hi guys, just been weighing some Optimus HBC Projectiles for the club rifle. Wondering what sort of variation people are getting.

I had a few at 150.84 to 150.98, then quite a few from 151.02 to 151.68, a couple each at 152, 153 and 154, then a batch 155.02 to 155.92.

Scales were fx320

Cheers
Danny

I weighed out 300 to do my reloading for the Warrnambool prize meet last week. I'm using the newer 155.5gr projectiles. Had a weight spread between 154.8gr and 155.9gr. With most in the 155.3-155.7gr range.

I had some 155gr bergers that I weighed out afterwards for shits and giggles. Only .1 of a grain difference in all of them.

I had a batch of seconds in the new style pointed ones, I had a handful that made more than 0.4 grains heavy, and not many more that were more than that light. Maybe I got lucky but most fell within +- 0.15 grains. This was a 500 count box and sold as seconds.

Got more coming and will check them out.

There are a lot of other reasons for them to be 2nds apart from just weight. They could be out of round, jackets might not be right......
Maybe ok for practice, but I personally wouldn't take them into a comp.

According to the information I had they were start of run and they cull a significant amount at the start of a batch. To be honest they were better than the last box of firsts I got. I meant I have more new firsts coming and will be checking them.
