Best gun case 1400mm long

Post by superx10 »

Hi, Guys, I am in the market for a new gun case to suit our long F-class rifles, the length is critical as 1400mm is perfect for the rifle and also will sit sideways in a Toyota dual cab. Any advice would be appreciated.
Maybe the best value for money and best but expensive.
Thanks
Scotty

Depending on your rifle setup , big long case isn’t always necessary , I use barnards in vblock stocks and are easily taken apart and replaced . I’ve used shorter cases with barreled action &scoped removed from the stock and placed in reverse to each other .

Has anyone used the custom gun case maker in Sydney calledfortresscustom cases?
Nick Williamson used to sell and use them don't know much other than that.

I had 2 custom gun cases made 20 years ago by John Eland (a well known F Class shooter) specifically for flying to shoots. Since then John has closed his factory, but looking at the Fortress website it appears that they use the same hardware to assemble the cases that John used. That is the aluminium extrusions, steel corners and flight panel.
In all the flights I have made (many internationally) there has not been any evidence of damage to my gun cases, but have been through numerous suitcases and soft sided bags.
John Eland would demonstrate his rifle cases at Queens shoots by driving his 4 wheel drive over them. They were not damaged by this treatment.
Although I have no experience with Fortress, the product does appear identical to that previously produced by John Eland.

I have a custom made Fortress that I used on an African trip. Very well made but it is heavy. I'll measure it up if you like. it is excess to my needs now.

1300 x 460 x 135. Cleavers have the Red Shield ones that are 1345 long.
