Re: Lapua 284 brass
I seem to remember mention of a special order in the US, that wasn't available for export? However if its available in Australia through NIOA then that'll eliminate the need for expanding the 6.5 necks.
PS Maybe it was Norma who did the special order....

Re: Lapua 284 brass
I’ve emailed Lapua multiple times asking them to make a straight 284 case. Every time I got a response that they weren’t interested and had no plans to make it.

Maybe they are seeing other boutique makers taking part of their sales and have changed their tune?
I was gonna do a 300 Norma with a SLR treatment a few years ago. Get a nice long neck length to run light and heavy pills with the same throat but blow the body out and the shoulder to something respectable like 35deg.

Re: Lapua 284 brass
actually necking up 6.5 brass to 7mm is not a bad thing for neck turning if you only have bushing dies.
by using the right sized expander, you can produce internal neck diameters to fit the turner pilot perfectly for the whole neck from the shoulder on out.

Re: Lapua 284 brass
Even the magnums are 315 a box, similar to Norma, 284 is only slightly more than 6.5-284, if the turnover ends up the same I’d say the price will too
